ARTIST:  Sarah Yazzie

CONDITION: Excellent

The textile/rug is hand-woven in the traditional style of the Dine {Navajo} Nation Native Americans of the Southwest.
Detailed Rug/Textile Description:
This textile/rug measures approximately 64” x 46” overall.
The textile/rug features a variation of a design commonly known as a “Hubbell Ganado”.  The Hubbell Ganado pattern is well known to the indigenous, Native American weavers of the Southwestern United States and is often replicated and/or altered by them.
This Hubbell Ganado textile contains the classic symbol of a central row containing a chevron or step-diamond design accented with a two additional rows of partial chevrons.  This Hubbell Ganado features two distinct black lines separating the chevron designs. There are 3 colors used in the creation of this textile, they are as follows: bone white, black and brick red. {See photos for design and color details} The wefts per inch for this textile are approximately 70 to 80 on average thus creating a very tightly woven textile with excellent design detail. Attached to the rug is a tag indicating the actual maker of this textile. The artist’s name is Sarah Yazzie, a 4/4 member of the Navajo Nation, Arizona.

Styling and weave type of the textile/rug is indicative of 1980’s to the present.
The rug is in excellent condition – like new.
