ARTIST: Unknown stated by appraiser who did the appraisal in 2006
This appraisal is written about one original Native American artifact ~ Bandolier Bag~ witnessed by me on this date of September 23, 2006 and is currently part of the W & V Miller family estate of Houston, Texas. {Bandolier Bag photos attached separately} *Overview description* – A classic example of a Woodlands {esp. Ojibwe ~ Chippewa} Native American style bandolier bag featuring beadwork as an accent. The bag measures _approximately 38 inches x 15 inches overall_. The bag features a style of beadwork commonly known as embroidery beadwork with yarn accents. The bag is entirely beaded on one side. The beadwork pattern is a classic Woodlands nation vine floral design. The entire inner backing/liner for the bag is a typical {for the period} calico fabric. Accenting the beadwork at the bottom of the bag are 30 traditional style yarn accents hanging from the bag. The overall construction and the beadwork accent for this bandolier bag is excellent quality, classically veined and is
certainly antique. {Please see bag photos for design details} There are several areas of very minimal damage to the beadwork which is typical and expected for a piece this age. The damaged areas will in no way affect the performance value for this bandolier bag.
There is no artists hallmark illuminating the original maker for this bandolier bag. Based on factors used by the Western Life Appraisals staff it has been determined this artifact is indeed a Native American made product. This Bandolier bag is estimated to be _circa 1920 to the 1950_ The current fair market value for this original Bandolier bag ~ artifact as of this date as determined by this appraiser is _$7500.00_ Current value determination is made by the availability of this type of original artwork throughout the United States at various retail outlets.
