:APPRAISAL: This appraisal is written about one Navajo basket witnessed by me on this date of February 22, 2007 and is currently part of the W & V Miller estate of Baytown, Texas. {Basket photos attached} This basket is hand-woven in the traditional style of the Dine {Navajo} Nation Native Americans of the Southwest. :Detailed Basket Description: This basket measures approximately 19” across. This basket artwork design is a contemporary amalgamation of a classic Navajo design coupled with swaths freeform bolder colors. Approximately seven different colors were used by the artist in the creation of the particular basket. All the materials used in the fabrication of this basket excluding the color dyes are natural materials commonly used in the art of basket making {esp. by contemporary Navajo basket artists} {See photos for design, color and construction details} This basket can be attributed to the well known basket maker Elsie Holiday of Monument Valley, Arizona. Ms. Holiday is a 4/4
member of the Navajo nation, Arizona. This basket was created by Ms. Holiday in the early 2000’s The basket is in excellent – like new condition. The current “fair market value” of this Navajo pictorial basket as of this date as determined by this appraiser is **$5800.00** Current value determination is made by the availability of this type of artwork throughout the United States at various retail outlets.
